Place a sample fabric (approximately 5g in weight) in the incubating room, and leave it for one night. On the following day, place the sample fabric in a plastic bag, seal it, and place it into a desiccator for cooling it down (at least for 30 minutes). Weigh the plastic bag containing the sample fabric. Then, weigh only the plastic bag without containing the sample fabric, and calculate the difference between the weights to obtain the weight of the sample fabric. The above weighing method is the same as the one adopted in the total size amount determination [see (3) Method for Determining Total Size Amount]. Next, cut the sample fabric into 1cm-square pieces, and place them into a filter paper thimble. Dry the filter paper thimble in an oven for at least 30 minutes. Here, when cutting the sample fabric into pieces, create one 1cm×3cm piece and place this piece on top of the 1cm-pieces to cover them, so that the 1cm-pieces do not come out of the filter paper thimble. Next, dry a flask at 100°C for 2 hours in the oven, cool it down in a desiccator, and weigh it. After weighing, connect the flask to the Soxhlet wax extractor. Next, place the filter paper thimble containing the pieces of sample fabric in the extractor, moisture of which has been removed. Pour N-hexane into the extractor by the amount 2.5 times more than the amount to fill the filter paper thimble. Reflux the N-hexane for 6 hours while heating the extractor in a hot water bath whose temperature is set at 95°C. After refluxing, cool down the N-hexane sufficiently, and take the filter paper thimble out. Again, reflux the N-hexane to clean the extractor. Collect the N-hexane to minimize remaining N-hexane in the flask, and disconnect the flask. Place the flask in the oven to evaporate the remaining N-hexane. Weigh the flask in the same manner as previously. Calculate the amount of attached wax per 1g fabric from the extracted amount of wax and the weight of the sample fabric using the following equation.
